REBUILDING SONOMA COUNTY

For so many people in the North Bay, the widfires that occured in 2017 represent tremendous heartache and loss, but also that of gratitude and hope.

Altogether, the infernos that began on the night of Oct. 8 in the North Bay claimed 40 lives and destroyed 6,200 homes and another 1,800 structures. Insured losses total nearly $10 billion.

Twenty-four people died in Sonoma County, and more residences were destroyed here than were built in the county in the past seven years.

While devastating, only 10 percent of Sonoma County’s 1 million acres was impacted by the October 2017 fires.

Much of the terrain has seen regrowth and most of the county has retained its pristine landscape.

Rob Auger, Jessica Pilgrim and John Currier of the Design Build Company are helping to rebuild the lives, hope and homes of the residents in Sonoma County.
